Invisible

(July 24, 2026)

  Have you ever felt invisible in a crowd
With people all around,
Some you know, most you don’t;
It’s like being covered in a shroud.
You have a piece of cake as you sit all alone;
Nobody notices when you take another.

Everybody is talking to somebody,
But nobody it talking to you,
Except for maybe a few
And then only until somebody
Comes by more important than you.

It’s not like you’re hard to miss
When you’re right there,
But they don’t seem to care.
You greet the hostess and tell her
Her dress looks lovely and she’s so pretty.

When you get up to leave,
You bump into the host.
He thanks you for coming
And you say you had a nice time.
When you leave to go home,
You wonder why you ever went.
