My Own Little Spec in the Universe

It may not be much, a little over a half an acre,
A tad more than twenty-six-thousand square feet.
The lawn, trees, and flowers are a wonder,
I love caring for them and keeping the yard neat.
This place has been ours for nearly forty years,
We’ve raised kids and now the grandkids here.
During that time there has plenty of toll and many a tear,
But it has been a safe place, free from danger and fear.
There have been more good times than bad from year to year.
But now I’m getting older it won’t be mine much longer. My name is on the deed free and clear, but It’s not really mine you see,
It belongs to one to whose words never falter,
The One who created this world, who reigns for eternity.
Me and my own little spot in the spot in the universe may be insignificant
When compared to the worlds without end as His footstool,
One whose power, glory and works are infinite.
My years on this earth, how many there may be, are but a school
Preparing me for what He has in store for me.
