Where have all the years gone?
It seems only yesterday I met a cute girl
With big brown eyes like a fawn.
We were at a dance so I gave her a whirl.
I saw her again a few days later
And got to know her more
So I asked her for her number
Because she was someone I could go for.
So I called her up one night
And asked her to go out with me,
To my relief, and delight
She did agree.
That was only the beginning.
From then on we saw a lot of each other
And my heart she was winning
And I knew there was no other.
I told her one day she would be my wife
And she willingly agreed
That with me she would share her life,
And I promised to try to meet her every need.
Back in seventy-eight on the First of December
We watched the sunrise of a day called eternity.
It was a cold winter day to remember
When she became one with me.
We set out into the unknown
Uncertain of what lay in store
And how the years have flown,
Taking us through many a door.
I thought I had it all figured out
But things never go as planned.
Our future was in serious doubt
But together we took a stand.
Starting over wasn’t easy,
And another door was opened.
We packed up our little family
And together we pressed forward.
The journey along the way was difficult
But we got resettled in our new place;
A place that was no coincident
But with new challenges to face.
The hardest thing we have ever done
Was the heartbreaking time
When we had to bury our newborn son,
One more mountain to climb.
Raising our children was challenge,
Each different from the other
But somehow we were able to manage
Mostly thanks to their mother.
After several years our world changed again
And once more our future was uncertain.
But the Lord saw us through even then
For His promises are certain.
Our lives were never the same
As we undertook yet another new path.
We were helped as blessings came
As once more we dealt with the aftermath.
There was a time she had to take care of me
And now it’s my turn to take care of her.
On one thing we definitely agree
Our love for each other is sure.
The years have come and gone and can’t be undone
As water flowing endlessly down stream.
And now we begin another trip around the sun
All part of the plan of He who is supreme. |
