Fishermen are notorious liars, myself no exception. Did you ever hear about the one arm fisherman? He caught a fish this long, holding up one hand. You have to see it to get it.
I've told some big whoppers in my day, some embellishments, most out right lies. But there is one story that sounds so outlandish it has to be true. You just can’t make this stuff up. It was at my favourite spot, I won’t say where because I don’t want any one horning in on me. I cast my line and let it drift until I snagged something. Reeling with all my might it started to move until a yellow taxi broke the surface. Okay I'm embellishing here. It was tow truck that pulled it in. Of course the police were called to the scene. What was inside was a shocker, it was a missing mob boss, not really more like a petty thief who robbed a 7-11 and carjacked a taxi to getaway. So there were 2 bodies, the driver and the thief. How much money was in the bag? $37,95. How they ended up in the lake is a mystery but I could speculate. But that would be another lie. |
