The Last Laugh

(February 5, 2025)

Joe was on odd fellow, his mannerisms quirky and off the wall. Sadly he had a disorder that caused jerky movements. His neighbor, Frank found Joe’s antics ridiculous and comical. He amused himself by watching Joe try to do the best he could, with comical results.

When camcorders came out in the ‘80s Frank began to secretly record Joe, getting a kick out of watching him. Franks's videos found their way onto a local TV station. Viewership increased over the years. Not having a TV Joe was clueless that he was entertaining thousands of people each week.

As technology advanced, the sophistication of Frank’s amusement took on a new element. He would set up Joe with various situations just to see his reaction. The videos made their way into you tube and TikTok. Not having a computer or smart phone, Joe was unaware of his popularity. Then one day someone recognized him in the checkout line and commented on his recent episode. Aghast at the invasion of his privacy, Joe got a lawyer. Now with a $500 million settlement, Joe got the last laugh.
