The Ticket (November 6, 2024) |
“What’s this? I don’t remember buying a train ticket. I could sure use it, I needed a get away. Where in the world is Mandora, anyway? It sounds exotic.” I couldn’t find it on Google maps so I got out my old 1989 Rand McNalley, atlas but I couldn't find there either. If it was that hard to find its just the place I need to go, I really need to get away. The ticket was for April 1st. Hmm, April fools day, and left from the station at 3:13pm. On that day I packed my bag, I travel light. When I got to the station I presented my boarding pass and got on. Oddly there was only myself and a very attractive younger woman in the passenger car. This ought to be a pleasant trip, that is if she was good company. Looking up, she smiled at me. That was a start. “Where you going?” I asked. “Mandora,” she said. Before I could respond. The conductor punched my ticket. he said, “You’ll love it there.” “Where is it anyway? I couldn’t find it on any map.” “That’s because it doesn't exist,” he replied. Not yet, anyway.” |
