This has been everything the travel agent promised it would be! Hawaii in the 1960s before everything became so commercialized and crowded. Why, when I was here back in 2032 it was a nightmare. Now that time travel is a thing I had to step back in time, I had watched the old Elvis Presley movies from the 1960s, Blue Hawaii and Paradise Hawaiian style, depicting it as the paradise of a long lost era. Fortunately time travel vacations are limited as not to overwhelm the time and place. Before leaving tourists were coached on what not to do. We were monitored closely and if we violate the terms of the agreement we are whisked back immediately.
So hear I am lounging on Waikiki Beach sipping on a pineapple coconut concoction with a perfect view of Diamond Head. The beach isn't crowded and the weather is a nice 73°. The travel agent has the weather in a database so as not to book anyone during bad weather. Off to my left are some young people, old enough to be my great grandparents, playing volley ball. Out in front of me a surfer is riding a wave in. To my right are some sailors on leave before sailing for Yankee Station off Viet Nam. If only I could just stay and live my life in this time rather than my hectic world. But all good things must end. |
