The title of Gordon Buttars’ latest novel “Worlds Without End” is a combination of two Pearl of Great Price scriptures: “For my works are without end” and “worlds without number have I created.”
The Lord has created numberless worlds and the inhabitants of these worlds are created in the image of God. In other words, these extraterrestrial beings are like us who dwell on earth.
Using his expansive imagination, Gordon created memorable inhabitants on the world of Avon. Reflecting the tidal forces of the multiple suns and a giant ringed planet, his characters face the waning and waxing experiences of despair and rejoicing, sin and redemption, loss and restoration.
Gordon skillfully blends the genres of fantasy, romance, religious fiction and gospel allegory. The result is a thought provocative novel which will have you pondering for months to come.

Although technically Worlds Without End is not science fiction, it lets the reader’s imagination venture outside the box what life might be like on another world. Detail, drama, romance, and religion are all elements of this painstakingly crafted story that is a fun read—for a week or a weekend!

I enjoyed the story immensely. I had a hard time with the names at first but finally “got it “. Love, family and forgiveness are the themes. But the setting is unique so it keeps you hooked from start to finish.

I really enjoyed reading Worlds Without End. I was intrigued by the plot’s many twists and turns, but took a minute to figure out the world where the story takes place. Great read.
